TOONAMI RETURNS MAY 26TH

Posted by We Rise Mag on May 19, 2012 at 10:05 AM

Toonami is a brand of Cartoon Network, used initially for action-oriented programming blocks on Cartoon Network television channels worldwide, mostly showing American cartoons and Japanese anime, originating in the United States on March 17, 1997, and ended on September 20, 2008.

May 26th will see the return of Toonami as an actual programming block, the first time since 2008 that it has been a presence on US television. What the block will actually air besides Bleach, Cowboy Bebop, and Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood is unknown as of right now, but hopefully some more light will be shone on the upcoming revival tonight at the Adult Swim upfront. Hopefully some new shows will be included.

Personally, I won't be able to watch Toonami (as I'm in Australia) however I hope it returns with a vengeance. If anime gets more television exposure it may gain back the cash lost due to piracy; I don't understand economics very well, so I don't know how exactly being on TV gets something money but it could only be good news for the industry if a wider audience is seduced by the brilliant madness.

I'm not to sure either but I believe the station(toonami/cartoon network) purchase the rights from the owner(FUNimation) to air the show on their station than the station make $$$ by selling ad space
